Summer facts

Summer is one of the four seasons and it begins on the day of the summer solstice ends on the date of the autumnal equinox. Both “equinox” and “solstice” refer to the path of the sun throughout the year. During a solstice, the sun is either at its northernmost point (Tropic of Cancer) or it is at its southernmost point (Tropic of Capricorn). An equinox is either of the two days each year when the sun crosses the equator and both day and night are equally long. Summer is the season with the longest and warmest days of the year. Summer in the northern hemisphere begins on June 24th and ends September 23rd. It is opposite of that in the southern hemisphere. Summer occurs because of the way the Earth is tilted towards the Sun. The hemisphere that is tilted in the direction of the sun Experiences winter. Many things happen during this wonderful season we call summer, it is when many crops are grown families go on vacation and many animals are active in the summer rearing young. Tropical Cyclones known as hurricanes start to form during this time of year as well.
